Chronic Pain

Acupuncture for the relief of pain

Chronic pain is an experience of pain or discomfort which lasts beyond the expected normal time of healing. Chronic pain can occur in any part of the body and because we are all different, the way we see and experience pain varies widely from person to person. Chronic pain affects people of all ages, and often is not connected to any obvious cause. Acupuncture helps to bring relief from pain and supports overall physical and emotional well-being. Stimulation of certain acupuncture points has been shown to affect areas of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as promoting relaxation and deactivating the 'analytical' brain, which is responsible for anxiety

Typical chronic pain conditions:

  • Low & upper back
  • Shoulder and neck pain
  • Headache and migraine
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sciatica
  • Neck stiffness & pain
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Tendonitis (pain from over use)

Acupuncture is effective in the treatment of back pain. Acupuncture treatment helps to bring relief from pain, reduces inflammation and swelling and improves muscle stiffness and joint mobility

Acupuncture is believed to stimulate the nervous system and triggers the release of neurochemical messenger molecules. The biochemical changes influence the body's homeostatic mechanisms, thus promoting physical and emotional well-being.
